After that we took off to Tyler to go shopping. A and I had a good day. Although she wanted everything and the things we did get she wants them now. She has no patience.
My youngest is 8 years old, third grade. She no longer believes in "Santa". That ended sometime after last Christmas. So one from church mentioned it to her and I had to explain. Does that make me a liar? Or was it a story or legend to help make the season exciting?
I'm still undecided. I remember being a kid and getting so excited about "Santa" visiting that special evening. I was in the third grade when I found out the truth also. Except I found the presents stashed in top of the bathroom cabinet. I never did say anything about it though.
Don't get me wrong...I love getting gifts, I love giving them also. This year I have tried not to get all wrapped up in the commerc
ialism of the season.My favorite Christmas program to watch is "A Charlie Brown Christmas". Yes, it's old. It came out in 1965...ohhhhhhh that's so old considering I was born in 1967!!
If you pay attention to it, it tells you the TRUE meaning of Christmas. Who would have thought that after 41 years this little cartoon would still be allowed to tell the true "reason for the season".
Luk 2:1 And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed.

Maybe some don't know...but what Linus quoted was from the Bible. It's the nativity story, the reason we have Christmas. We read that story every year to the kids on Christmas eve. This year I am trying to make the season about Jesus and not about Santa. After all...what did Santa do for me?
Jesus died for me, that's the greatest gift!
