King Tut

Today, a group of us took off to see the King Tut Exhibit. My husband was thrilled to see things that belong to a dead guy...Anyway.

I enjoyed it. It' amazing to me that this stuff was around AGES ago! It's history and I enjoy learning about history. The one thing most of us said that we were disappointed with was there was no sarcophagus. The picture you see in the all the adds, it's not there.

I was suprised to see that most of the artifacts were made of wood overlaid with gold. When I think of Kings and Pharaohs I think of opulence. Maybe that's just the movies, too much Cleopatra or Ten Commandments.

We also noticed that quite a few of the symbols were actually crosses with big ovals at the top. The meanings of those symbols were "life". My friend and I kept thinking about all of the items in biblical terms. It's weird to think that people actually believed in gods that would carry you into the afterlife. There were gods that guarded your internal organs. A book of the dead that contained spells, which is really freaky in itself. I'm just saying...

Anyway, I hope all that went had a good time.

I was good .... kinda creepy, but good, lol. I, too, thought it was strange that there was so many things made from wood. Guess I was thinking they were going to be solid gold. Thanks for taking care of the tickets for all of us!
