A little Dancin', A little Ramblin'

I looked back at my postings about DWTS. Guess what? I picked the winner!!! I said I would be surprised if Shawn didn't win and she did!!!!!

In fact all three celebrities were wonderful! I'm so looking forward to the fall season! Except, I wish they would have singers on that I know...I know. I'm out of touch with what's popular!!

Unless it's Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana or the Jonas Brothers...I'm just saying.

Who in the heck is "Lady Gaga"???? And why was she singing with a toilet bowl brush?? Go figure!! Anyway, our whole family watched the finale. My husband enjoyed it immensely.

One thing I loved last night was this. I love GWTW and anyone who knows me sees it every time they come into my house!!! You bet I'll be finding a picture of me and uploading it to this! It's it so funny!!!!

Now that Dancing's over, I'm free to work in the yard as late as I want on Monday and Tuesday nights. Maybe even a little bike riding, just a little though, wouldn't want to over do it.

Amanda's new math curriculum finally showed up yesterday! Praise God! Although she wasn't doing much praisin'. LOL!

Remember the "rank smell" from under the house? Well, Mike actually climbed under the house to check it out! He. Crawled. Under. The. House. all of the pipes were together, it's just that standing water that's causing the foul odor.

Right now, our house looks like "po white trash". Not that I have anything against "po white trash" mind you, its' just the siding is hangin off one side of the house with 2 box fans underneath trying to dry out the remaining water!

Monday night, Kemp ISD awarded scholarships to their seniors. My sister, Rhonda, is the head of the history department over there and handed out one of those scholarships to a young lady. We, my sisters and I wanted to honor Mom by having a scholarship given in her name. People donated their money to that fund and a total of $1500.00 was raised.

I had forgotten all about it (dancing with the stars was on) and missed the event but was completely filled in by Rhonda and Robin. Apparently, Rhonda held it all together but the little girl totally lost it on stage. My sister had to tell her to stop crying or she was going to loose it also!

The pool is now a little shade of green. Maybe by July we'll be able to use it!

Last weekend was so busy! Movie night on Friday, church cleaning Saturday, church and baby shower on Sunday. Don't forget about the Arts and Crafts festival in downtown this Saturday!

By the way, how do you like my new blog look??? Pretty cool, huh? It's free, that's the best kind!!! You can find more over here. Jannypie crafts has some pretty cute stuff and ideas, stop by there if you get a chance!

Now it's off to cook pizza and get ready for Lifegroup!

A time to remember, a time to learn

Field trips, field trips!!! I think we went on our last one yesterday. We headed here to see this.

It wasn't your average play about Anne Frank and the Holocaust. It was more of a play rolled in with a history lesson and multimedia event. It was fabulous!!!!

About 20 of us took off to see it yesterday morning and I believe it made an impact on the kids. I know it did me! My friend and I had to fight back tears and do the whole blinking thing in order to not completely lose it!

Can you imagine hiding for 22 months of your life? No fresh air, no sunshine, no wind blowing on your face, not even smelling the rank smell that is emitting from under our house! yeah, I know that's gross, we had a pipe come undone and the water hasn't dried up yet... But can you imagine??? Or not being able to drive a car, buy things from a store, having a curfew or not being able to go across state lines??

The one thing we need to do is pay attention to what is happening around us. History is history, we can't change it BUT we can learn from it and make sure it doesn't happen again. If one man with twisted views can achieve murdering 6 million people then someone else with the right propaganda could achieve it also.

You know, there maybe one more field trip that we need to make...click here. That's if every ones game for it.

Busy times, Good times

Yesterday, another group of us took off to Waxahachie to attend Scarborough Faire. This is the second year that we've been over there. This time the weather cooperated with us. No mud!!!

We had a really good time. I've decided though that my friend, Melissa and I can't ride together unless we really know where we're going...LOL!! Going over there we got lost and finally found our way. Coming back, we missed the turn for Ennis and ended up going up I-20 then hitting the highway back home. Maybe if we didn't talk so much, we wouldn't have missed our turns, LOL!!!

The month of May is filled with field trips. Although due to the outbreak of "flu" we missed going to Jefferson. Next year, we will make it, God willing...

Next Thursday we will be attending a play about Anne Frank. Next weekend is a bake sale for a group who wants to go to India AND church clean up day. Oh, let's not forget the movie night at Books for Less on Friday. There are so many things scheduled.

On April 29th, Mom had been gone for 9 months. It's still hard to believe. I had a friend ask me how I was feeling since Mother's Day was coming up. I hadn't really thought about it until she asked. After all, every day is Mother's Day at our house. Then she asked if I had stopped trying to keep myself busy so that I didn't have to talk about it...

WOW!!! but no.

Amanda has 5 more weeks to go. Although she's finished her English, Handwriting, and Reading text she'll have the honor of continuing math and small summer lessons.

The 20 pounds that I had lost last year is back! My back yard is a swamp, the pool is still green and a pipe under the house came loose so we had a horrible smell escaping into our closet!!!

I got a really cool phone!!! it's red!! My husband keeps reminding me that it isn't an Iphone!!! He thinks the Iphone is the best thing since sliced bread. Anyway...

I'll be glad when everything dries out a bit so we can get out there and clean that nasty pool. I'm kinda thinking that we may need to drain it and start over!! Every leaf in the free world is in the bottom of that pool!!!
