Two of my favorite things

Two of my favorite things are Gone With the Wind and musicals.

I love sitting down and watching Scarlett give the people around her fits. I love that Margaret Mitchell created a strong heroine that goes after what she wants. Yes, even though it is at the expense of others. Through the book and movie I always thought about Scarlett having "everything" that a woman could want: beautiful child, adoring husband, magnificent house, self sufficiency and "not a care in the world".
All throughout the book and movie, Scarlett believes that she will only be happy if she can get Melanie out of the way and have Ashley. She never realizes until the end that she was really and truly happy until everything is gone. It reminds me to be content with what I have...
My second favorite thing is watching musicals. My husband can't stand them. He doesn't understand why these people can't just say what they mean without breaking out in song. A couple of years ago, Mom and I went to see "Phantom". It was FABULOUS!!!. We were enthralled with the performance and the story..."the music of the night".
Now guess what???
Someone is making Gone with the Wind into a MUSICAL???? I just can't imagine.
Why would anyone bother messing with such a classic movie and piece of literature??? I don't believe I will be paying money to see this. I can't see Scarlett singing..."Oh, fiddle de de" or "After all...Tomorrow is another day". And what about "Frankly, my dear"?
Needless to say, I am depressed.

We buried Momma on Sunday...

Wow! That sounds like a BAD country song! LOL!! Anyway...

This is Momma, she is alive and well. You first have to know that Momma has a strange sense of humor and that she was a really good sport about this! She decided to get everything in order so the sisters and I wouldn't have to deal with it when the time comes.

Momma has picked out her plot and it beginning to plant her headstone. Of course, I am the one taking pictures and posing people for the shots!

We were very appreciative that Mike came along! There would have been NO WAY that she and I could have done this! Mike did mention that NO WHERE in our wedding vows did he agree to this, LOL!!!
After the hole was dug, then came the mixing of the cement. At this time, we would like to thank Cherie for her contribution to the cause...Thanks for the bucket!!!

Fourth step: Pour the cement for the headstone to stay in place. It was quick dry concrete so hopefully we won't find Mom's place marker down the hill.

Here, Mom is spreading the cement in order to place the stone.

Laying of the stone. Then Mom back filled around the stone to make everything even and tidy. She has OCD too!

Here lies Mom's headstone...God willing she won't be resting there for quite some time!! "Beloved Mother"??? LOL!! She is so funny!!! She did think of everything!!!!
Anyway...
Thank you for stopping by and hopefully these instructions will help in case you decide to save your children a little bit of time, money and grief.

Wasted Time

Today has been a completely and totally wasted day!!! We DID NOT accomplish anything!

We left the house this morning at 9 am to make it to the half price book store in Mesquite. We got there and began looking for books. I had our little list and couldn't find a one. NOT. A ONE.

I am really trying not to spend alot on Homeschool curriculum for next year, so trying to find the books I needed at 1/2 price books was going to help out. But the aggravation of having to scan ALL those books and then not finding any is NOT WORTH IT!!!! I'd rather just pay the extra $$$ and order online!!!

Next, off to the Mall next door. It's been awhile since I've been in Town East Mall. Did you know that there isn't a book store in there anymore??? B. Dalton Books use to be there but NO MORE.

Not happy...flesh may be about to appear.

So...we left.

We headed to Galloway which is a couple of blocks behind the mall. But guess what??? I turned left instead of right and from then on, I couldn't tell you where we were!

Our little excursion turned into a BIG WASTE OF TIME. Somehow I ended up around R L Thorton Frwy and Jim Miller road. Now, Jim Miller sounded familiar to me so I pulled over and called my MOMMA!!!

I figured the husband was in meetings and didn't want to interrupt plus I was in NO mood to be laughed at. Besides, Mom laughed at me plenty!!!

Anyway...

Mom got us to "the grove". Now, there is nothing Pleasant about the Grove. Every time we visit Pa Pa's house we duck as we head to the door. But I was never so happy as when we hit Buckner and headed to 175.
I've learned my lesson! I will be heading East from now on instead of West! Besides, the East has prettier scenery!!!!

If your going to say check the library, I did. The one here in town didn't have any of the books on my list either.

Like I said...today was a wasted day.
