Homecoming 2006

Homecoming 2006 was a good time. The Panthers won their first game, a Homecoming queen was announced, no one got hurt and the band did good!

Here is M with his girlfriend M. Don't they look cute??

We played hooky from school today. We had been gone all weekend football and to the Genesis Women Shelter. I had to clean the house. I know that my family doesn't care that "cleaniness is next to Godliness" but I do!

We'll play catch up tomorrow.

Radical ????

I use to watch The View. I don't anymore. I know that everyone has opinions and they are entitled to them.

There are men and women who have risked their lives and put everything on hold in their lives so that we can be entitled to them.

Could someone explain to me how people of a "peaceful" religion can run around scream obscenities about Christians and Jews, burn down churches and synagogues, fly airplanes into buildings, bomb train stations, blow up buses and still be the victims?

Then demand apologies?

You know that Satan is looking at all of this and laughing, having a good time, it's exactly what he wants to happen.

Does anyone see Christians or any other religious groups terrorizing other people because a remark was made, a cartoon was produced or quoted from a book recounting a conversation between 14th century Byzantine Christian Emperor Manuel Paleologos II and an educated Persian on the truths of Christianity and Islam.

When did we become the bad people?? I just want to scream "Look God, Look at what they are doing, come on down and take care of them"!! I know He sees and He will handle everything in His own time.

'Cause in the end, WE WIN!!! If more would read "The Book" more would know how it ends. Even Satan knows the ending!!

We need to pray that God will send His Holy Spirit to convict some people that they will get into His will and forget their own.

Have a good evening.

Science Experiments

Here is A during science today. We are creating crystals. Our science curriculum has little experiments you do with household stuff.

Today we boiled water then dissolved salt in it. Poured half of the mixture in a shallow dish and the other half into another dish.

One dish goes into a warm place, then other in a cool place. After a few days we will check them and see which place larger crystals grew.

We are now going on a month of homeschooling and God is helping us all the way. We will not be able to do this without His help.

We make sure that every morning we ask God to help us thru this and to be with A. She really needs help with math and reading. We have figured out that somewhere, 1st or 2nd grade she missed the lesson on counting. Bless her heart, I don't know why she didn't learn that.

She has trouble skip counting and counting in the hundreds. I talked to a teacher that I use to work with and she said that doesn't surprise her. She has 8th graders who can't count.

With God's help, things will work out. Have FAITH!!!

Five years later

I'm sure all of us remember where we were on 9/11/01. I remember mom saying "I remember I was a junior in high school when JFK was shot and they sent all the kids home".

I remember sitting in a portable building on the Middle School campus watching events unfold on tv. I was with 2 other ladies and all we could do was cry and stare in disbelief. People calling one another on cell phones cause you couldn't call long distance from the school phones. Needless to say...that is when I purchased my first cell phone.

My husband was in downtown Dallas. People were being sent home from work and trying to get out of the city.

I know some people are probably tired of hearing about 9/11, maybe they don't understand. That day changed us and the world.

I remember watching the Republican National Convention in 2004. A man named Zell Miller delivered the key note speech.

Never in the history of the world has any soldier sacrificed more for the freedom and liberty of total strangers than the American soldier.
And, our soldiers don't just give freedom abroad, they preserve it for us here at home. For it has been said so truthfully that it is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us the freedom of the press.
It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the agitator, who has given us the freedom to protest. It is the soldier who salutes the flag, serves beneath the flag, whose coffin is draped by the flag, who gives that protester the freedom to abuse and burn that flag.
Zell Miller, Republican Convention 2004

It's true...we owe them and their families so much!!!
Take time to enjoy your loved ones and appreciate what God has blessed you with.

Long Week End and Texas Football

Our little team didn't do so well last night. They tried. But the band looked and sounded good.
The drum majors podiums got left at the band hall...I felt so bad for them.

I thought I would post a picture of my little homeschooler. We upgraded our phones so now I'm playing!! Trying to figure out what all I can do with it.

Not a bad picture for a camera phone.

After 3 weeks of homeschool, we have noticed a difference in "sweet angels" attitude. I'm not saying that all children who attend public school have bad attitudes, but hers has gotten better.
Praise God!!

Another Praise for God...He has given us a new church building!!! We move in Dec. 1!!! We are so excited. The homeschool group that we are involved in needs a place to go and maybe we will be able to use the church.

Might have to twist the preacher's arm...he's my hubby so maybe I won't have to twist too hard!

Have a safe weekend.

Flutterby

Texas Football
Tonight's the Night

Football season, aka marching season for the band!! Homeschool playday this morning then off to East Texas.

It's bitter sweet! MJ is a senior so this is his last first game to perform in.

Homeschool is going good. AP and I had the house to ourselves for 3 days this week. Hubby had to actually GO into work. Usually he rolls out of bed and goes to the kitchen table to log in.

Off we go...to play and find caffine!! Then load ice chest for the band, take a spelling test, math work and read a story.
We have decided to take it easy on Fridays. Since this is Labor Day weekend that means no school on Monday!! WOOOHOOO!!

Have a good and safe one!!
